Parents Getting Involved

In Manchester we have a number of ways of you can get involved to have your voice heard and influence the design, delivery & strategic planning of Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) services: You can sign up to the Participation Register, become a Parent Champion and or join Manchester's Parent Carer Forum.

Participation Register

The Participation Register was designed with parents for parents. It allows you to keep up to date with information / service developments / events, etc without any commitment. It offers lots of opportunities to get in involved at various levels as well as getting to hear about an exciting range of training and events.

If you would like to be added to the Participation Register, please email or call us.

Email: parents@manchester.gov.uk
Tel: 0161 209 8356

You can also join the participation register online and will receive a Vectis discount card for a limited period.

Parent Champions

The primary purpose of a Parent Champion is to make other parents aware of the Local Offer in the everyday conversations they have with them. Parent Champions attend a half day training session so that they have a good understanding of the information, support and resources on the Local Offer. For those that want it, there are lots of other opportunities and scope for personal development. Parent Champions are offered a dedicated IAS caseworker to support them.

With our Parent Champion Representative, we have complied a number of FAQ which help to describe what's involved.

Training to become a Parent Champion is done through a rolling programme which runs on the last Monday of every month.

To book on or find out more, contact one of the IAS Engagement Officers on 0161 234 1946 or email parents@manchester.gov.uk
