Wai Yin Society was founded by a group of Chinese Women, concerned that the needs and ambitions of Chinese women in the UK were underrepresented. Although we have developed our services to cater for both men and women and for other BME ethnic minority groups, our focus on Chinese women has never shifted. We recognise that many Chinese women are still marginalised, isolated and vulnerable, in need of support for themselves and their families. We value the strength of women and believe in nurturing their experiences and skills to strengthen families and communities.
Services we offer include:
- Peer support groups
- English language classes and learning support
- One-to-one support and advice sessions
- Access to information and advice on immigration, employment and family law
Services provided across Manchester for BME communities. Staff and volunteers speak many languages, including: Cantonese, Mandarin, Somali, Polish, French, Spanish, Czech, Russian, Lithuanian, Urdu, Punjabi and Arabic.
