Royal Exchange Theatre: Adults Programme

We offer a variety of workshops, events and activities for individuals and the wider community, and aim to involve as many people as possible in fun and engaging activities relating to the theatre. Please see below for details about projects and opportunities still currently on offer.

Between the Lines

Monthly playreading sessions focusing on a play that in some way relates to a current production (thematically, through the time it was written or ‘in conversation’ with the play we are producing).

Wordplay

A programme of individual fortnightly writing workshops that can be booked either as a unit or individually. Wordplay will draw on a selection of plays from our repertoire in order to gently introduce participants to creative writing with an emphasis on writing for theatre.

The Exchange Forum

A Forum bringing together theatre practitioners, teachers and educationalists together to share best practice and hear about recent and forthcoming projects and events that place creative learning at the heart of education practice.

World Wide Workshop

Open to individuals aged 18+ for whom English is not a first language, or whose circumstances mean they may feel displaced and/or not usually able to access theatre. WWW includes both professional artists and participants with little or no experience of the performing arts.

Truth About Youth

The Royal Exchange Theatre is one of seven organizations across Britain working in partnership with the Co-operative Foundation to deliver their major initiative, Truth about Youth, which challenges and changes negative perceptions about young people by supporting projects which enable them to work with adults, the media and the wider community. Throughout the year there are opportunities for both young people (aged 14 - 21) and adults, to sign up for a range of projects and one-off events which take place over school/college holidays, at weekends and on some evenings.

Family Friendly

Sunday events and weekend workshops for families with children under 13.
