Ghyll Head Outdoor Centre
Ghyll Head is an Outdoor Education Centre managed by GLL in partnership with Manchester City Council. It is located on the side of Lake Windermere in the Lake District National Park.
Ghyll Head provide high quality outdoor education courses to schools, youth groups, community groups, colleges to experience a residential in the Lake District.
We aim to raise self esteem and confidence, promote teamwork through outdoor experience, develop love and understanding of the outdoors, promote tolerance, respect and co-operative attitudes.
Activities
Canoeing, sailing, mountain walking, gill scrambling, abseiling, rock climbing, caving, expeditions, and a range of teambuilding activities within the Centre grounds.
Accessible for all students
You will benefit from accessible accommodation and activities meaning you experience the great outdoors without limitations. Our experienced professionals work with you to create adventure experiences through supported activities. Your students have the opportunity to get into the water and learn to sail using specialist hoists for access onto watercraft and specialist ‘access’ dinghies. Students can abseil and zip wire with adapted equipment; and we have wheelchair-friendly trails around the grounds and provide three-wheeler rough riders and power chairs.
