An upcoming opportunity for young people aged 16-24 in Manchester/Greater Manchester. City in the Community will be kicking off the next City Careers cohort on Tuesday 10th October 2023!

City Careers is a free 8-week programme which aims to help guide young people into their preferred form of employment, education, or training. This also includes upskilling participants who may not achieve employment in, or immediately after, the 8 weeks. 

City Careers is based in the Etihad Stadium, held every Tuesday and Thursday. Sessions are split into two, with mornings dedicated to workshops designed to upskill participants, afternoons involve social sports/football. Participants on the programme will work complete a Level 2 Community Sports Leadership qualification, which will be a great first step for any young people looking to pursue a career in sports, developing their confidence, understanding of leading sessions, teamwork and coaching tips/experience. Workshop topics include:  

  • Completing a Level 2 Community Sports Leadership Qualification
  • Goal Setting
  • Job Searching
  • CV and Cover Letter writing
  • Interview Prep
  • Mock Interview
  • Budgeting
  • Getting Paid 

Work surrounding the classroom sessions involves completing a qualification booklet, posters and worksheets. Participants are provided with MCFC kit to keep, free lunch and travel reimbursement to and from sessions each week.
