The African Caribbean Care Group (ACCG) Parent Carers Learning Disabilities Forum

The African Caribbean Care Group (ACCG) Logo

In 2023, The African Caribbean Care Group (ACCG) celebrated its 40th year of supporting and caring the African and Caribbean Community within Greater Manchester. The Charity was initially formed to enable African and Caribbean community to access culturally appropriate and affordable health care services, however the services and support available including the Day Care, Delivered Meals, Dementia Support, Information and Advice Support, Holistic Therapy and Carers Support Service are now accessible to all communities within Greater Manchester.

One of ACCG’s goals is to identify the unpaid carers, providing them with support, guidance, resources and recognition at the start of their journey to maintain their wellbeing. ACCG can help carers with Dementia Advice, Respite through their Day Centre, and awareness events including health talks and day trips.

Carers forums are held each month in key locations. Hulme carer forum meets on the first Monday of each month at the Claremont Resource Centre, Gorton Carers Forum at the Gorton Monastery which takes place on the third Monday of each month and a new Parent Carer Learning Difficulties Forum which takes place on the last Monday of each month at the Claremont Resource Centre. During these forums there are guest speakers, fun activities, or sometimes just a coffee morning to chat with others who you can relate to.
