Triumph Over Phobia (TOP UK)
Triumph Over Phobia (TOP U.K.) runs a national network of self-help groups, including one in South Manchester, to help people with phobia or obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) to overcome their problems using graded self-exposure. This means learning how to face up to your fears in a very gradual and structured way so that eventually the anxiety should decrease. TOP U.K. groups are run by trained lay volunteers, most of whom are ex-phobics or ex-OCD sufferers. A structured self-treatment, self-exposure programme is followed by group members, using Living with Fear as a self-help manual, meeting weekly in a supportive group.
