Young Carers at The Lowry

Flyer for young carer group

The Lowry’s ‘Arts for Social Change Programme’  works with young people with adverse life experiences using the creative arts to build confidence, transferable life skills, promote wellbeing and improve employability prospects.  This includes our Young Carers group, which is open to young people aged 11 – 18 years across Greater Manchester.

A Young Carer is a child or young person who carries out significant caring tasks and assumes a level of responsibility normally undertaken by an adult.  We have a long-term commitment to reaching hidden Young Carers and providing a safe and creative space for them to share experiences and gain support.  The group work with professional artists and explore relevant issues through social activism and drama, creative writing, theatre, film and digital art.

Sessions take place in Salford, and all sessions offer Creative Activities plus Pastoral Support.  We work with individuals on a one to one basis to discuss access requirements, including transport, additional needs and best ways to support each young person.

To help us ensure the young person that you are referring receives the right level of support and are signposted to the right opportunities please complete the form below to the best of your knowledge and return to The Lowry’s Engagement Coordinator – Paige.steers@thelowry.com.
