Caritas Connecting Older People
Caritas Connecting Older People (CCOP) incorporates the services previously known as St Joseph’s Welfare or Befriending Services.
Based from Collyhurst, CCOP supports older people in our community by promoting independence, reducing isolation and empowering through connections, practical support and activities. We currently support people over the age of 50 who are predominantly in the North Manchester area, delivering a very highly valued visiting and support service for people with limited mobility, declining coping capacity and poor mental health
Help varies from a friendly ‘chat and check’ to supporting with shopping and other regular activities such as discussions with the Housing Department, the Benefits Agency, contact with GPs/Consultants and lifts to a range of appointments.
Funded by Manchester City Council, people are referred through Adult Social Services, Community Health to boost care packages, or people can self-refer, to gain good neighbourhood support where no statutory help is given.
