Young Carer Support at Coop Academy Manchester

This service is for students that attend our school
We work to provide knowledge to our students about young carers to ensure they are receiving support and aware
Ongoing support is provided to our young carers in school
Young Carers are often highlight of our staff briefing to ensure awareness is raised to staff around school
We plan to host year group assemblies to provide our students with information on how to be identified as a young carer and what support is available inside and outside of school
Letters are sent home to parents/carers making them aware of the support available in school
We run a free breakfast club
After school clubs are available
A weekly drop in session is available for our young carers, which they can voice opinions on what they would like to see available for our young carers in school
We partake in many school trips tailored to our young carers
If we feel our young carer may benefit from additional support, we can make referrals to external agencies
We have School Counsellors available for our Young Carers if they need to access this
MACA & PANOC Tools to inform our assessments on potential young carers
There is a notice board designated to our Young Carers in school providing more information
We adopt a whole family approach and are able to carry out Early Help Assessments if families feel they would benefit from further support
We Empower families
A careers advisor is available in school to ensure our young carers are supported through transition stage
