Beacon Boxes: Bespoke Educational Activities Centred on Need

Who We Are 

We are two experienced teachers who have been supporting learners with SEN (Special Educational Needs) for most of our careers.

Who do we provide for? 

We aim to reach the most vulnerable students who are unable to attend a school setting due to SEN and SEMH (Social Emotional Mental Health) needs. These students have an EOTAS (Education Otherwise at School) package and may be suffering with high anxiety, burnout and have had adverse school experiences. Students often have a PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) profile and require a bespoke approach to their education. 

What we offer? 

We provide weekly bespoke learning boxes delivered to students' homes designed to appeal to students’ particular interests and carefully matched to their level of learning. Everything in the box is optional and students choose when, what and where to complete.

It is a successfully proven PDA friendly approach. Most importantly the focus is very much on low demand, enjoyment whilst learning is carefully weaved in. Each box aims to provide 10 hours of educational activities planned and designed by an experienced teacher.

Parents may choose to deliver the learning themselves, employ personal assistants to deliver for them or the student may complete some activities independently. Progress is carefully monitored through feedback and regular communication is offered to ensure adaptations are made and next steps are targeted.
