NEPHRA Good Neighbours
NEPHRA Good Neighbours is a registered charity based in New Moston, North Manchester. We have been established for over sixteen years, working predominately with residents over the age of 50. Our vision is to improve people’s lives by offering opportunities for volunteering, social interaction, and recreation; and to collectively enhance skills via participation in education and training.
From our community centre base on Parkfield Road North, we deliver an extensive weekly timetable of classes and activities that provide a safe space for our clients to socialise, learn new skills and give a sense of purpose to their day. These include educational classes, social activities and physical and mental wellbeing support. In addition we also have a successful befriending scheme, meals on wheels provision and handyman service, allowing us to assist clients to remain in the community and maintain their independence for as long as possible.
We also have a community garden space on Northfield Road which attracts visitors and allotment holders who wish to learn about community allotments and community food schemes, and from where we run outdoor activities such as our Gardening Club.
