Greater Manchester Domestic Abuse Helpline (Independent Choices Greater Manchester)
We run the Greater Manchester Domestic Abuse Helpline and can take calls from anyone over the age of 16 who is experiencing or has previously experienced domestic abuse and violence in any form.
This includes:
- Physical abuse and violence
- Threatening behaviour
- Financial/economic abuse
- Online abuse
- Emotional or psychological abuse
- Stalking/Harassment
- Sexual abuse and violence
- FGM (Female Genital Mutilation)
- Controlling behaviour
- Honour based abuse/violence
- Coercive behaviour
- Forced marriages
Crucially, our Helpline can also be accessed by professionals, as well as friends and family who want to support loved ones.
We help victims/survivors with practical information and support by:
- Advising of their legal options, including criminal and civil options
- Having honest and frank conversations about safety planning
- Supporting and advising on any housing issues
- Accessing and referring to refuges across the whole of the UK
- We also provide emotional support to victims
- All our Helpline staff are experienced and professionally trained
The Greater Domestic Abuse Helpline is a safe space and is available:
Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm on 0800 254 0909.
