Young Carers Support at CHS South
This is a service for pupils attending our school.
We deliver regular whole school assemblies, raising awareness for young carers.
We are going to communicate with our parents to request that they notify us if their child has caring responsibilities. We will have a young carers display board, which will include the young carers rights and additional services on offer.
We have drop in sessions, where our young carers students can have time out of lessons with the pastoral team. We will give the opportunity for young carers to spend time with one another.
We have a 'young carers' extra curricular group on Tuesdays, where they have the opportunity to partake in various activitiies, have a place to relax and meet othet young carers and support each other - In room G42 at our partner school Chorlton High School with Ms Calvin & Miss Roberts, 3pm - 4pm.
Along with this, we offer a range of extra curricular clubs - Community Cohesion Club, Badminton, Boys & Girls Rugby, Kickboxing, Drama Club, Coding Club, Chess & Other Board Games, Girls Netball, Table Tennis, Arts & Crafts Club, Steel Pans, Gospel Choir, STEM Club, Creative Writing, Girls Football, Trampolining, Music Tech Club, Cooking Club, Cycling Club, Maths Clinic, Doddle & Homework Club and Boys Football.
We offer Early Help Assessments and assess the needs of young carers, along with adopting a whole family approach. We will use the MACA and PANOC.
We are commited to working towards Young Carer's In School Award.
