Alison Valentine-Higgs

I have been a Registered childminder for over 12 years. I live with my Husband and our two children. We live within walking distance of Wythenshawe Hospital in the Baguley/Newall Green area. I offer a flexible service with a wide range of resources catering for all ages and stages of children's development. I have a secure rear garden, offering a good range of outdoor equipment allowing the children to explore the world outside.

My aim is to get children ready for school nursery, helping them with their personal, social and emotional development, ensuring they are good communicators and have good physical development skills.

I am available from 7.30am until 6pm Monday to Friday. My hours are flexible for parents who need cover out of these hours. I am available to support families needing term time only childcare if needed and I do not charge a retainer for the school holidays. I offer flexible day rates on full and part time places. I accept Free Funded Hours, Childcare Vouchers, Care to Learn payments and college/University payments.

Early Education:- Early Education is provided for children up to the age of five. It gives children the chance to learn and play in a safe and structured environment. All three and four year olds are entitled to receive 15 hours (some are eligible for up to 30) of early education free of charge, some two year olds are also eligible for 15 hours.

I have achieved my Level 2 Qualification in BTEC Children's Care, Learning and Development and my Level 3 Qualification in CACHE - Certificate in Childminding Practice and recently gained my Foundation Degree in Early Years through the Open University. I continue to undertake training courses to gain more knowledge in childcare aspects and provide the best possible care for the children in my setting. I hold my Certificate of Paediatric First Aid. I have been trained to undertake WellComm screening and I can plays a crucial role in identifying children with potential language difficulties and then support their language development, I completed and passed my level 2 in British Sign Language to help to support children and their families.
