Manchester Youth Justice (YJ)

Manchester Youth Justice, (previously called Manchester Youth Offending Service (YOS)) is a multi agency service that aims to prevent offending and re-offending by children and young people. The core work of the YJ involves the supervision of Court Orders, preparation of Court reports that outline reasons underpinning offending behaviour and tailored intervention plans to address the risks associated with offending, regarding serious harm to others, vulnerability and re-offending.

The YJ has four teams; two locality teams in the South and North of Manchester; a Court Team based within the Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court and the Intensive Supervision and Surveilance (ISS) Team that manage high risk prolific offenders. Our locality teams are multi-agency with seconded staff from Greater Manchester Police, Probation and the Health Service; this helps us obtain information to complete holistic assessments, enables us to make swift referrals and assists with the implementation of tailored intervention plans.
