Child Bereavement UK

Child Bereavement UK Logo

Child Bereavement UK supports families and educates professionals when a baby or child of any age dies or is dying or when a child is facing bereavement. Every year we train over 10,000 professionals, helping them to better understand and meet the needs of grieving families.

In the UK, when a baby or child dies or a child is bereaved, many of those affected are unable to access good quality support which meets their individual needs. Child Bereavement UK believes all families should have the support they need to rebuild their lives when a child grieves or when a child dies. Our aim is to make sure they do.

We provide face-to-face support for children and young people up to the age of 25, who have been bereaved of someone special. This support is in the form of monthly support sessions, these can be either individual or family sessions with parents/carers. We run family groups for children and their families from the age of 4 to 11 these are a chance to meet other bereaved families and do creative work around topics such as memories and difficult feelings. We also offer a group for young people for 12 to 25 year olds. These groups are a chance to meet other young people who have been bereaved and take part in creative projects.

We also provide parenting support to parents who are supporting a bereaved child or young person, again in the form of monthly sessions with a trained bereavement practitioner.

We support parents who have been bereaved of a baby or child of any age, this is in the form of monthly support sessions either individually or as a couple, we also offer groups for parents bereaved of a baby or child to meet other bereaved parents.
