Family Learning - Wai Yin
The Family Learning Project is designed to help Chinese Families in Manchester through the "Steps Towards Learning" programme. The project aims to run different kinds of Interest based classes and workhops to help families to build confidence and skills to improve their lives and asperations. It also helps families to break isolation and to build friendship and socialise.
You can improve your life by:

- Learning new technology to enable you to have an open mind.
If you want to make a case referral to the Family Learning Project, please download our referral form (Word Format, 281kb), complete it and send it via email to family_unit@waiyin.org.uk. Please note that this does not apply to course registrations. For people wishing to apply for a course, please contact a member of the Family Learning Team.
Courses on offer include, Basis ESOL classes, I.T., Beauty (Beginners and Advance), Mandarin for children, Children’s First Aid, Tai Chi and Parenting Courses. Contact Wai Yin for course fees and dates.

- We aim to provide culturally specific, sensitive and high quality support to the Chinese community's most vulnerable members (women) through user led groups, social and recreational activities. All of our activities focus on promoting and supporting physical and mental health and general well being. We provide the following services: A drop-in service A multi-lingual telephone helpline for Chinese women A self-help group Bi-lingual information to support Chinese people to access mainstream services such as GP surgeries, baby clinics, Sure Start, education and adult learning Interest based classes and workshops, such as English, ICT and family learning One to one support Workshops for women which provide information on a range of subjects, including benefits, the UK education system, parenting, employment and training, health and well being.
