The Lowry (Days Out and Activities for Disabled Children and their Families)

This information has been put together by two parents of disabled children with the intention of giving other parent carers some ideas for trips out around the Greater Manchester area.

This impressive building of glass and metallic surfaces houses two theatres and a studio as well as galleries showing the works of LS Lowry alongside contemporary exhibitions.

There are lots of fun ways to enjoy the galleries, including borrowing one of the Jack’s Packs available from the information desk. The pack is full of games, puzzles and other activities designed to take you on an adventure around the galleries and the building.

Children might also enjoy the Art Detective and Hide and Seek Trails, or creating their own Lowry-inspired masterpieces with the paper and pencils dotted around the galleries. Look out for the Family Corner on the deck of the galleries, where you can take some time to chill out on the comfy seats, explore textures, colours and shapes or enjoy the books, toys and art materials provided.

The Lowry organises lots of activities for families, like art and drama workshops, under 5s dance sessions, story times and craft sessions for the under 5s. See the website for full details.
