Gorton Kids' Karate Club was developed in 2005 in partnership with Manchester City Council and Sensei Deborah Jones, a qualified Karate / Self Defence Instructor of the Ken Yu Kai Karate Association. The club has grown from strength to strength and is now also known as Gorton KenYuKai Karate Club, as it holds over 100 students between the ages of 5 years and 75 years! It provides the opportunity to engage in a fun karate / self-defence class whilst helping to improve fitness, confidence and the ability to keep protect personal safety. The club has a strong and positive community ethos; it promotes self-discipline and respect for self and others. G.K.K.C. is a club member of the Ken Yu Kai Karate Association that was established in 1976 by 9th Dan Terry Pottage. We offer family discounts and multiple training discounts, and there are many opportunities for those who wish to compete too! Sensei Deborah Jones 5th Dan is also one of the KYK Karate Association Squad Coaches and as a member of the English Karate Federation, we compete with the best of the best.

Child Protection Information - Ken Yu Kai Karate Association is a Registered Body with DBS. All Instructors are required to undergo Enhanced Disclosure checks in accordance with the Child Protection Act 1999. 


Tuesdays 6 - 7pm - Beginners Class

Tuesdays 7 - 8pm - Intermediate / Advanced students

Wednesdays 6 - 7pm - Beginners Class

Wednesday 7 - 8pm - Kata Specialist Class

Thursday 6 - 7pm - Beginners Class

Thursday 7 - 8pm - Intermediate / Advanced students

Saturdays - 12.30-1.30pm Kickmaster class (only available to midweek students as a complimentary class)

Classes cost £5. We are based at Wright Robinson Leisure Centre, Abbey Hey Lane, M18.
