Gorton Kids' Karate Club was developed by Manchester City Council and Deborah Jones, a qualified Karate / Self Defence Instructor of the Ken Yu Kai Karate Association. It provides children between the ages of 5 and 18 years with the opportunity to engage in a fun karate / self defence class to help improve their fitness, confidence and ability to keep themselves safe. The club has a strong & positive community ethos; it promotes self discipline and respect for self and others. All lessons are taught by experienced qualified Martial Arts Instructors in accordance with Health & Safety standards.
G.K.K.C. is a club member of the Ken Yu Kai Karate Association that was established in 1976 by 8th Dan Terry Pottage. As a non for profit community organisation costs are minimal; we also offer sibling & multiple training discounts. The club takes part in competitions, nationally and internationally. In 2013 as a club we won over 40 medals / trophies and several students qualified as members of the WKC England Squad.
Child Protection Information - Ken Yu Kai Karate Association is a Registered Body with DBS. All Instructors are required to undergo Enhanced Disclosure checks in accordance with the Child Protection Act 1999.
Gorton Kids' Karate Club is part of GKKC - which also includes the adult element Gorton Ken Yu Kai Karate Club. We belong to the Ken Yu Kai Karate Association led by Sensei Terry Pottage 9th Dan.
Tuesdays 5-6.30 General Karate (all ages Tuesdays 6.30-7.30 Adult karate (aged 15+ all grades including beginners)
Thursdays 4.30-5.30 Beginners class Thursdays 5.30-7 General Karate (all ages orange belt and above)
Saturday mornings 10-12 specialist classes on a 3 week rotation:
Week 1 Self defence
Week 2 Kumite (sparring)
Week 3 kihon and kata (karate basics)
First class is always free.
