Go Beyond - Formally Chicks Charity

Go Beyond is a registered charity which provides FREE five day respite breaks for children aged between 8 and 15 years old who are living in difficult or deprived conditions and will not of had an opportunity to have another break in that year. The breaks provide the opportunity to have some fun with peers of their own age and build upon their self-esteem and confidence. Our week long breaks give children a chance to get involved in a number of new, exciting activities and experiences.

CHICKS currently has three retreats for respite breaks in the UK; two in the South West in Devon and Cornwall and one in Derbyshire. The retreats are set on grounds with converted barns full of trampolines, basketball nets, pool tables and table tennis, also within the house there is a music centre and arts and crafts area.

The children we help come from a variety of backgrounds. They might be living in poverty, be young carers, be victims of bullying or abuse, or have been bereaved. The one thing they all have in common is that they could really benefit from a week away from their circumstances.

Referral Details

In order for a child to attend a CHICKS respite break they have to be referred by a professional.

In order to refer a child, an online Break Referral Form needs to be completed which can be found on our website, and then arrange for the parents/guardians of the child to complete a consent and medical form which must be posted or scanned and emailed back to CHICKS.

An online referral application must be completed for each individual child to enable us to assess their situation. It is important that children are referred by a professional person who is able to take responsibility for completing paperwork, arranging transport and being the primary contact, providing the link between the family and CHICKS.
