Combat Stress (Ex-Services Mental Welfare Society)
The Ex-Services Mental Welfare Society is the only services charity specialising in helping those of all ranks from the Armed Forces and the Merchant Navy suffering from psychological disability as a result of their service. These services are offered through a national network of welfare officers, who can visit clients at home, and three treatment centres, which provide rehabilitative treatment which aims to help the victim cope with his or her disabilities and to enjoy a better quality of life. In addition, the Welfare Officer can assist with War Pension applications, appeal tribunals, and to put the veteran in touch with other caring organisations where there are needs requirements which cannot be provided from within the Society's resources.
