Nacro's Employer Advice Service

Nacro’s dedicated Employer Advice Service seeks to give employers and other organisations the confidence to assess and manage risk in relation to the disclosure of criminal records and allegations. We have a strong understanding of the concerns that employers have when making recruitment decisions and we work with them to address those concerns.

We do this by offering:

• Free, confidential advice and support: Our advice line offers practical advice and support for organisations about carrying out criminal record checks and how to manage criminal record or allegation information relating to applicants or existing staff.

• Training & Seminars: Our interactive Criminal Record Training Courses  explore the legislation that is relevant to the disclosure and management of criminal record and allegation information. Using real case studies as examples, we give HR professionals the tools they need to carry out risk assessments and make recruitment decisions confidently and legally.

• Consultancy and legal compliance: We give tailored support to individual organisations so that they can understand and apply the complex changes to disclosure and data protection legislation and minimise the risk of costly tribunals and civil claims. We also support organisations to develop more inclusive policies which protect the organisation but are fair to applicants with criminal records. This includes full support to organisations wishing to ‘Ban the Box’.
